• Arrested Clerk: Chandrakant Vasudev, a civil clerk-cum-typist at the City Civil & Sessions Court in Mazgaon, was arrested by the ACB on November 11, 2025.
  • Accused Judge: Additional Sessions Judge Aejazuddin Kazi has been named as a co-accused in the case. The ACB is currently seeking permission from the Principal Judge to arrest him as well, and he is reportedly missing.
  • Bribe Amount: The clerk allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹25 lakh to ensure a favorable verdict in a land dispute case. After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹15 lakh, which he was caught accepting in a trap laid by the ACB.
  • Evidence: The clerk was caught red-handed accepting the money and, shortly after, informed the judge about having received the payment over the phone, which was recorded by the ACB.

Both individuals have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. This incident is considered significant, as it may be the first time in recent years that an additional sessions judge has been booked under this Act in Mumbai.
